My name is Giacomo (jack) and I was born in Bologna Italy in the early 9os.
I have always drawn since i was a little kid and i do remember drawing all the times: I grew up with no tv and a very little computer use a day, so i had a lot of time on my hands.
I remember looking at animal encyclopedias and redrawing them, creating all kinds of made-up worlds in our little room.
My education took a different path to the one i imangined and proceeded to a more scientific / mathematic oriented one, but in 2oo8, when i was 17, I had the incredibile chance to spend a year in high school in the usa (i ended up living in Columbia, Maryland).
I took all the classes i could have never taken in italy: art, photography and guitar; and that reignited my dorment love for creative things.
I went on with education going to college and graduating in Cinematography in 2o14, wanting to become a movie editor.
I sarted tattooing in my college years, almost quite randomly: my younger borther Marco (he is also a creative person, he does amazing illustrations and books that you need to check out here) wanted to buy a tattoo kit to try tattooing out, and that's how it started.
I did my first tattoo on myself in December 2o11 and i still remember the way i felt: i really felt like that was what i wanted to do for living. I abandoned my idea of becoming a movie editor and pursued my tattooing career with 1oo% of myself.
I've tattooed in different shops in Bologna and guested / did conventions around Europe for a while, then moved to Melbourne Australia for five months in 2o19. I worked in Bologna - Reggio emilia for a few years after moving back from australia, but my desire to leave italy has always been in the back of my head.
in 2o24 i decided to leave again: i was headed to montreal canada this time. I left with no plan to come back to italy and i lived there for a year and a half.
but life happens, and on a trip to NYC i reconnected with lauren, a beautiful girl i met in 2oo8 in maryland usa - we fell in love right away and got married 6 months later!
My canadian visa was expiring short after so we decided to move back to italy for a while. we took our two cats, a few bags and moved back to my hometown bologna in early 2o26.
we will be here for a few years, just the time to get my green card to come back to the usa, and never move again (hopefully!)
we can't wait to be there! I'll post updates as soon as i'll know more.
in the years i've been tattooing i've had the chance to work in almost every continent of the world and travel to so many incredible places (japan and portland OR being my favourite ones so far!), I've met so many different and interesting people; I've seen so many beautiful things that definitely helped shaping the person i am now.
also, growing up in the late 9os / early 2ooos has influenced me immensely: playing with the amazing toys that were made at the time - listening to so much "underground" music - reading a lots of books / graphic novels - watching (and loving) movies - skateboarding with my friends.
i love drawing (and tattooing) bold, quirky and colourful - japanese inspired - goosebumps horror - music / movies related kind of stuff; animals, monsters, frogs or anything that come from my imagination!
I am always on the lookout for inspiration from books, music, movies, graphic novels, commercials; or anything really.
a few other things about me:
i love music and it is a huge part of my life, i play bass/guitar and have played in bands / recorded songs since i was 14. I am a pedal and gear nerd, so you are welcome to chat about it when you see me!
i have been vegan for a looong time and love every animal that lives on this planet (also, would love any extra terrestrial one).
I love toys: i collect them (mostly japanese sofubis and kaijus because c'mon they are the best ones) and will be making some soon too (no spoilers yet!).
